Mental Health Healing

My Journey Back to Life: From 128 Pounds to 185 Pounds

There was a season in my life when I weighed only 128 pounds. The weight loss wasn’t because I was trying to get healthy—it was the result of deep emotional pain. Religious trauma, work burnout, and the overwhelming stress of life took a tremendous toll on my mind, body, and spirit. I felt exhausted, discouraged, and disconnected from the joy God intended for me.

Healing did not happen overnight. It came one step at a time.

God surrounded me with people who reminded me that I wasn’t alone. My church family prayed with me, encouraged me, and walked beside me through some of my darkest days. My close-knit family became a source of strength, and as my relationship with Jesus Christ deepened, I began to rediscover hope. Instead of simply surviving, I started learning how to truly live again.

I also made intentional changes to care for my body. I committed to healthier eating, regular exercise, and creating daily habits that supported both my physical and emotional well-being. Under the guidance of my healthcare providers, I eventually reached a place where I no longer needed mental health medication. That decision was part of my personal journey and should never be viewed as the right path for everyone, because each person’s healing process is unique.

Today, I weigh 185 pounds, but more importantly, I have regained my peace, strength, and purpose.

If you’re struggling with trauma, burnout, or depression, don’t give up. Healing is possible. With faith in Christ, supportive relationships, and a commitment to caring for your whole person, there is hope. Your story is not over He is still writing it.
